Purpose of Position:

Develops or configures in the development tools and/or platform using application standards. Uses pair-programming, test-driven development, code quality tools or other agile development methods and responds to code checks. Applies DevSecOps principles, including deploying and releasing code, and cloning environments. Proactively performs research of trends, new methods, and techniques used to produce high quality code. Proactively creates or updates assigned documentation and in the solution context (repository). Conducts complex tasks and assignments as directed while working under minimal supervision with wide latitude for independent judgment. Provides guidance and mentoring to less senior staff and may oversee aspects of the system. The ServiceNow Developer III is a technical resource that possesses advanced administration capability. The ServiceNow Developer III is responsible for the design, build, and customization of ServiceNow applications and services. The ServiceNow Developer III works across applications, delivers new functionality and innovative solutions, and supports the entire development lifecycle as well as operational enhancements, maintenance, and production support of all modules and applications deployed on the platform. The ServiceNow Developer, Senior works with Solution Architects, Scrum Masters, Business Analysts, other Developers, and Administrators on an as needed basis to ensure that design and code meets customer requirements and is in line with industry standards and best practices. The ServiceNow Developer III is highly skilled and proficient in discipline. Conducts complex tasks and assignments, within best practice, while working under minimal supervision with wide latitude for independent judgment.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Develop or configures in the development tools and/or platform using application standards. Uses code quality tools and respond to code checks.
  • Use pair-programming, test-driven development, or other agile development methods. Creates or updates assigned documentation and in the solution context (repository).
  • Applies DevSecOps principles, including deploying and releasing code, analyzing/deploying upgrades/patch sets, and cloning environments
  • Mentors less senior staff and may oversee aspects of the Platform.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree Course of Study/Major: Computer Science or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

Type of Credentials/Licenses: ServiceNow Developer OR Implementation Specialist Certification required, ITIL Foundations preferred

  • 6-8 years experience working with ServiceNow as a Developer
  • 4 years experience with applications/modules beyond the core ITSM platform
  • Strong knowledge of ServiceNow Best Practices and ongoing knowledge of latest ServiceNow features
  • Demonstrated experience with CASE
  • A minimum of 4 years recent experience with the following technologies:
    • Development of scoped applications
    • Knowledge of team development and update set best practices
    • Data source configuration, transform maps, scheduled jobs, and import sets
    • LDAP integrations, including SSO (AD, Azure AD, Okta, etc.)
    • MID servers, to include performance tuning
    • Extensive knowledge of the Glide class
    • JavaScript and XML
    • Web Services integrations including REST, SOAP, and JSON
    • Bootstrap and AngularJS frameworks, AJAX
    • Reports, dashboards and homepages
    • HTML, CSS, Jelly
    • Strong knowledge of ServiceNow Best Practices and ongoing knowledge of latest ServiceNow features
    • Knowledge of Service Management best practices (ITIL, ISO, CObIT, etc.), certification preferred
    • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology, with participation in the software development life cycle
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Intermediate IT knowledge in more than one of the following areas:
